LB Agar, Lennox L, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli. LB Agar, Lennox contains half the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Miller formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Lennox plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. Dissolve 23g in one liter distilled water. Heat solution to boiling with continuous stirring for one minute. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Mix medium with gentle agitation to avoid bubbles prior to pouring plates. Store at room temperature.
